Fair trade chocolate
The company is in the process of applying for Fairtrade accreditation for its wholesale range.
At the Tipyn Bach Chocolate Company we use the finest fair trade dark and milk chocolate from Barry Callebaut to produce our chocolates.
Nut Allergies
The Tipyn Bach Chocolate Company does NOT claim to have any chocolate that is free from nut products. This is because nut allergies can be fatal, and even the tiniest trace of nut can trigger an attack in an allergy sufferer. During the processing of the transformation from cocoa bean to chocolate, nuts are used side by side for chocolate fillings etc. It is almost impossible to guarantee a truly nut free environment, and any such claims should be checked carefully.
Dairy produce
Our fresh cream truffles are made with the highest quality local dairy produce from the South Caernarfon Creameries Co-operative, ensuring that the local dairy farmers are also paid a fair price for the milk they produce.
Welsh liqueurs
Wales produces some of the very finest liqueurs from Penderyn whisky to Toffoc vodka and these combine beautifully with chocolate to make an excellent truffle. Although Captain Morgan Dark Rum is not Welsh Captain Morgan himself was a Welsh pirate, so therefore rum can be used!
Pinks Farm fruit syrups
Winners of the Great Taste Awards 2005, Pinks Farm in Warwickshire provide the finest fruit syrups for the summerfruits, damson and raspberry creams.
Ginger
The stem ginger used is Australia's finest produced by the Buderim ginger company from Queensland.
Diabetic/No Sugar Added
The Tipyn Bach Chocolate Company provides a small range of no sugar added items. The sweetener used is Maltitol. Maltitol (E965) is a naturally occurring sugar, derived from malt. It does not require insulin to metabolise it, and is often recommended for use by diabetics. Maltitol has also been approved as 'tooth friendly'. Maltitol is a polyol (chemical formula C12H24011), and therefore has a calorific value of 2.4 Cal/g. Compared to saccarose, on a scale of 1 to 100, Maltitol scores 90.
Diabetics should always seek the advice of their doctor or dietician before eating chocolate. |
